The beer festival in Copenhagen is fast approaching, and a lot of us are really looking forward to meeting up. Let’s hope for good spring weather, but even if it pours, there will be good company and good beer.
A few of the exhibitors of the festival will be show off their medals from the recent World Beer Cup. BrewDog got a trophy for their Hardcore IPA, while local heroes Nørrebro Bryghus got two gold medals for beers in their barrel aged series. I’m sure there will be long lines for these if there are any left by the time the festival starts.
I expect lots of good stuff from Mikkeller, Djævlebryg, Hornbeer and Amager, too.

Particularly looking forward to getting into more Djævlebryg myself.
Are BrewDog the only non-Scandinavian brewery so far? And where are our friends from Grimstad?
Nøgne Ø has little or no distribution in Denmark for the time being, so they are not there this year. I’ll check if any of their Danish freinds will have some fo their beers.
I suggested that Nøgne Ø, Haandbryggeriet and Ægir cooperated on a stand this year, but they did not find it viable. I think it could ahve been a hit – and there is a trade session where they coudl have found potential customers, too. Still much cheaper than flying to the US…
Potential customers like ME!
Must remember to pack my Nøgne Ø t-shirt so I can pass myself off as one of them using my flawless Norwegian accent.
Particularly when they are speaking Danish to you.
I’ve never been to Denmark but I am coming over for a few days and hope to get to the festival. Is it easy to get in on the day or do you recommend buying tickets in advance? I’m very ignorant about Danish beer I’m afraid. I must do some serious homework before I set off.
I think it’s an advantage to buy tickets in advance, you avoid the queue to get in that way. There is an enourmous range of beers in Denmark, and they get some amazing imports as well.
Check the ale.dk web site for ticket details, but I’m not sure if they have comprehensive information in English this year.
Thanks for your advice – I’ll order my tickets and read up on the beers listed. I’m sure I’ll get some pointers in the festival too – you usually get chatting to people who recommend stuff.

I will of course be there. Good to know you guys are joining us down here. Nice write up. Cheers!
Hi there,
To learn more about Copenhagen, you can try one of two websites: The official tourist site at http://visitcopenhagen.com or http://cph-visual.com – The last one has some very good images from around Copenhagen.

A rather lame request, but . . . I will not be able to attend, but I’m in love with the poster – any chance that they’re for sale?
(First saw it over at A Good Beer blog)
