VisitBritain is exploring new ways of attracting Norwegian tourists. There used to be a ferry connection between Norway and Newcastle, but this closed down a few years ago. They seem to miss the Norwegian visitors to NewcastleGateshead (do they actually write it like that?), and they hope that a better promotion of Northern pub culture might do the trick.

Some cities and universities have poets in residence, but now we are talking about a beer writer in residence. Only for a week, mind you, but nevertheless. A Norwegian beer writer to test pub atmosphere, food and beer range and price level.

The lucky winner will even have his photo on a beer label.
