What people really drink

With all the beer blogging and beer journalism out of the UK, you could easily believe that they spend their time consuming vast quantities of bottle conditioned ale. Well, the figures show otherwise. When the Brits buy booze to consume at home ( or on the street corner or something, it’s what they call the off-trade) they go for the big lager brands. The first beer resembling an ale is number nine on the list, and the first half decent beer on the list is Old Specled Hen at number 21. London Pride can be found at 33.

There is some comfort in knowing that some of the big lager brands are sold at huge discounts, sometimes at a loss.
