The English town Melton has a novel idea for getting men to do their shopping in the town centre. According to the BBC, the Leicestershire town has offered men a free pint if they do their shopping on its high street. It looks like you get a voucher in each shop where you buy somethng, so I think this could turn into a quite merry evening.
Before you pack your bags, this offer was only valid on Friday.

There’s a view (which I think has some merit) than men treat shopping as a mission — you need something, so you go in, grab it, and get out as fast as you can. I’m not sure a free pint would convince me to spend any more time shopping than I have to. Having said that, if it was a choice between shopping in Melton and whatever the next town along is, I guess this could sway it…
I agree. And it’s a way of promoting a town centre instead of a ghastly shopping centre somewhere along a ring road, too.
